Communion gown Re-design I really enjoy taking a special garment and re-designing it for another special purpose!
What a wonderful legacy this gown has had. It started out on its journey as her Mothers wedding gown. When she was younger she would wear it around the house and tell her mother that one day she would wear it for a special day. When her communion date was set, she knew exactly what she wanted to do. We started out with the full gown, and with her guidance I pared it down from her Mothers stunning Wedding gown to a beautiful young lady in her Communion gown. There were certain aspects that she wanted to retain on the bodice and skirt, some where a challenge, but the end result was such a joy.

Attention to all the Little details are on the to do list, maybe something from the flower garden…..How about a flower girl dress? Hand painted by local artist Mary Beth at Flowers by Paulette and custom designed dress by Michelle Rene/ Michelle Rene' .
You pick the style and fabric for the dress design and it will be hand painted with your choice of flowers and colors!

Photo contest - Jan 2012
Photo contest that I participated in with custom wardrobe design this past January with Robert Sleeper and team. We shoot the glamour gown at the AACA in Flo in Diner on the lower level of the museum. The atmosphere was perfect for the Hollywood style scene. Her gown was made of gold charmeuse that flowed on her like liquid. Added a fur and clutch and she was ready for the night (or the end of the evening)
The next shot was taken at the Strasburg railroad museum and the style was a bit steampunk/ vintage inspired. Full cotton skirt with a fitted separate bodice underneath a waist cinched coat accented with silver buttons and chains. The hat was had layers of feathers and tulle around the brim. The colors were of natural, burgundy and greens.
This was a great opportunity for me to play with a different genre of sewing and designing and enjoyed it to the mAx! Of course with the great photography, hair/makeup and a willing model, we won 1st place!!!!!!!!!
